The Little Book of Kiwi Months

“Hooray for January

Summertime is here

Head down to the beach

To start the brand new year”

So begins this colourful little rhyming book by Frances Chan.

Each month is represented with a vibrant photograph of New Zealand children in familiar environments and rhyming text describing the season and it’s activities.

May tells of Mother’s day and jumping in puddles. June celebrates Matariki, the Maori New Year. August has a rosy-cheeked girl and her dad sledding down a snowy slope and December a family enjoying Christmas at the beach.

This is a cheerful, relatable way for Kiwi kids to learn the months and seasons of Aotearoa.
